The Georgia Society Color Guard is comprised of volunteers willing to serve as an honor guard representing the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) at a wide variety of historic, educational, and patriotic events. If you would like to have the Georgia Society Color Guard at one of your organization’s meetings, events, or parades, please contact our Color Guard Commander to make arrangements.

Membership in the Georgia Society Color Guard is open to all SAR members with an official Continental and/or Militia Uniform. For details about uniforms, protocols, managing grave dedications, special events, both state and national, refer to the Georgia Society Resource Book. Individual guardsmen who participate in color guard events consistently for several years are eligible for color guard service medals. The cost of a uniform is comparable to a business suit and is the responsibility of each Color Guardsman. The Georgia Society Color Guard provides the flags required for presentation and posting of colors. Although not necessary, additional accoutrements, such as muskets, canteens, swords, sashes, gorgets, etc. are also the responsibility of the individual Color Guardsman wishing to have these accessories. For uniformity, the Continental Uniform used by the Georgia Society follows the specific requirements for the North Atlantic Regiments (New York and New Jersey). The Militia uniform allows for a more individualistic flair. For details on ordering a Continental or Militia Uniform, please contact our Color Guard Commander.
