The HS&C committee exists to preserve and promote Revolutionary history in Georgia and the Southeast through annual battlefield observances.

The committee involves the Georgia State and Chapter leadership, and the Color Guard and Col Elijah Clark militia unit, with invitations to the DAR and CAR, in annual celebrations that focus on wreath presentation and Color Guard participation. We sponsor observances like Kettle Creek and participate in events like Kings Mountain. We want State, Chapter and Color Guard at the annual celebrations at Kettle Creek, Cowpens, Guilford Courthouse, Ramsour's Mill, Kings Mountain, Frederica, Yorktown and Patriots' Day. We encourage participation at Pulaski Jubilee, Siege of Savannah, Siege of Augusta, Halifax Resolves, Martin's Station, Camden and Musgrove's Mill, as schedules permit.

We exist to generate members' and public interest in the SAR with an patriotic outdoor, fun experience; refresh our personal knowledge of American Revolutionary history , generate the knowledge in the youth of America and the public; and gain members for SAR. Publicity includes newspaper, television, and radio coverage that may generate a CD, DVD, or VHS audio/video product. Articles and photos are provided to SAR periodicals and newsletters.

"The war in the South turned ugly and brutal after the Battle of Kettle Creek in 1779. It would resemble Bosnia in 1995 more than it would Massachusetts in 1775. Old feuds and hostilities were accelerated by the war and murder was now justified if you did not think the right way....In the end, without the South, there would have been no end of the war." - paraphrased from Patrick O'Kelley's book Nothing But Blood and Slaughter, Vol One, with author's permission.
